SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe Managing Director will be responsible for overseeing all staff support and management systems, managing the DC office administration, and will work closely with the Executive Director and Coalition Coordinator as a leadership team for the Energy Action Coalition. The Managing Director is a senior management position, responsible to and collaborating with the Executive Director on the financial management of the organization. The Managing Director is responsible for managing the operations of EAC in an effective and facilitative manner. S/he is concerned with the efficient and wise use of the EAC’s financial and human resources to achieve their goals and objectives, by collaborating with the team to implement strategies, policies and programs, and supporting and supervising the staff, consistent with objectives, parameters, standards, and principles set by the Coalition’s Council. S/he will be responsible for directing the programs and administration, with the Executive Director and Partners Director, and for facilitating clear internal communication. The Managing Director will also support major fundraising efforts for the Energy Action Coalition.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred
* Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a nonprofit setting or transferable business experience in a similar position, with responsibility for financial management, human resources, and organizational administration. Prior supervisory experience required
* Demonstrated success building administrative systems and meeting technology needs for an entrepreneurial organization; experience with salesforce.com preferred
* Self-starter, highly motivated, resourceful, dynamic and creative professional with an entrepreneurial spirit
* Understanding of nonprofit accounting policies and procedures and working knowledge of QuickBooks
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Superb organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Experience as an activist and organizer in the climate movement and/or coalition work desired
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage Internet Director, Communications Director, and Field Director
* Oversee budget tracking and projections and prepare budget reports
* Provide oversight and approval of central budget expenses
* Manage administrative needs
* Manage the distribution of funds to coalition partners, including the signing and revising of all related accountability documents
* Act a primary contact with Earth Island Institute, EAC’s fiscal sponsor
* Coordinate all hiring and human resources matters
* Support grant writing and reporting and donor cultivation
* 40 hours per week; occasional evenings and weekends required
